In the United States, Hepatitis B Remains a Major Public Health Issue
- 1 out of 20 people have been infected with the hepatitis B virus (HBV)9
- Each year 100,000 new people will become infected with HBV9
- There are more than 1 million chronic carriers of HBV9
- One third of the chronic HBV carriers do not know how they were infected with the disease3
